Avril’s first book, Leadership Revelations – An Australian Perspective, was a wonderful collection of interviews and contributions from our top business and organisational leaders which demonstrated that leadership is a matter of character, not only technical skill and competence.
The concept of Leadership Revelations II How Australians Lead In Crises was to revisit past contributors & introduce some new contributors to ask them how operating in a financial crisis of global significance, coupled with global and domestic political instability, has changed both their organisation and their own leadership style.
It follows a similar format to the first book with each chapter focusing on leaders in different fields, including the private and public sectors, politics, Not for Profits and, in addition, future leaders. The book identifies the key trends and findings, the different crisis management strategies adopted by different leaders and their leadership insights for future leaders.
This new book also covers the thoughts and insights of current academically gifted university students, across multiple disciplines, in terms of what they want from their leaders in the future. Finally, the book compares what future leaders and current leaders believe is important for the future of leadership and the workplace.
“Over the decades Avril has been the warning voice alerting us to the importance of these matters. She is no longer a voice in the wilderness, because much of what she has had to say has now become conventional wisdom. Avril’s book shows once again that leadership matters: leaders make a difference.”
